20/01/2023 Walking from the lay=by on the B4114 to Broughton Astley.

Lovely bright day though very cold, just right for a walk and a natter.

Very icy - could do with some skates today.

Interesting farm lodgings.

Nature in all its glory.

Break time at the White Horse Broughton Astley.

Hoping for a ride back to the cars?

See you all next week.

13.01.2023. Walking from Blaby to Leicester approx 5.5 miles.

We all met at the Winchester Industrial Estate, Blaby on a bright but chilly day to walk to Leicester along the Great Central Way.

Twenty five walkers, most armed with their bus passes for the the journey back from Leicester.

Over the Grand Union Canal - not much activity today.

As we walked along, another walker joined us for a shorter walk and a bit of a chat.

In the distance Kings Lock Cafe, one of our favourite watering holes.

We had a little break whilst everybody caught up with the group.

For various reasons, several of our walkers said bye bye for the day, leaving the track at a convenient spot. We wished them well and hoped to see them next week.

Views of the river close by.

Yes, very interesting. Wonder what it is??

A green weed choking the canal.

Thousands of  birds flock along the canal to enjoy free meals provided by local bird lovers.

Only a few of us, everybody enjoying the sunshine.

Through Castle Gardens.

Popular chap in Leicester.

At the Cosy Club, plenty of room for us all.

Great day out, and the weather was very kind to us considering the huge deluges that have become the norm recently.

Cheers, see you all next week.

Happy and Healthy New Year Everybody.

Starting from Cosby Village Hall we walked to Littlethorpe, down to Whetstone then back to Cosby.

Back at the village hall everybody helped setting up the tables and chairs. Others got to work in the kitchen sorting out drinks.

A few photos en route.

Catkins - the first sign of spring.

We need more room on the pavements.
