25/3/2022 Walking from Dunton Bassett to Broughton Astley via Leire. app 6.25 miles.

Another beautiful day for walking. We decided to get out into the fields after the dry weather just recently, they must be free of water and mud by now.

Well we spoke too soon, our first problem 10 minutes into the walk. Mud, mud glorious mud. YUK!

A little challenge but soon everything seemed much firmer under foot.

We continued on to Stemborough Mill.

This boat has been here for years, wonder how reliable it is.

Passing the mill we continued on into Leire.

A cracking small Leicestershire village.

This magnificent magnolia tree was much admired and deemed ideal for a group photo.

Through the old railway bridge and out into the country.

Back into the fields, across the first stile of the day.

A new stile just recently renovated.

More mud but not a problem.

Round to the White Horse for a break and coffee/tea.

Back on track

No mud this way and no awkward stiles.

Back at Dunton Bassett church where we had parked.
A very good walk and I am sure we will be back in the fields as long as the weather holds.

18/3/2022 KIngs Lock walk from Blaby to Aylestone Meadows app 5.5 miles.

We chose this walk today as it was a favourite of a very special lady.

Appropriately, it was a beautiful day as we set off from Blaby Industrial Estate along the old Central Railway path heading towards Leicester.

Over the Grand Union Canal.

Down into the Nature Reserve.

Under the by pass.

Good paint job.

Met up with Po collecting for red nose day.

Subscriptions required for a good cause.

Kings Lock Cafe -  a cracking BACON BUTTIE (we will be back)

A pause for a group photo.

The sunny day definitely brings the cameras out.

For Sale !!!!
Clearly has damp problems.

The graffiti artists have been busy.

Did you see the size of that fish?

Enjoying the canal views.

Reed beds make good homes for the duck population.

Watch your head feature.

This heron was not for moving.

Back where we started.

A birthday surprise and delicious homemade cakes baked by the birthday girl herself.

Something to please everyone, thank you.

See you all next week.
