14/10/2022 Walking around Thornton Reservoir approx 5 miles

Bit of a grey day to start with. Forecast gives a better morning later.

A view of the reservoir, three miles around or five miles if you turn back at the dam and retrace your steps to the start.

Some lucky person has a pony. Perfect for those without a head for heights.

The trees at this time of year are just starting to take on their Autumn colours and discarding their leaves and fruits.

Very scenic.

Cormorants on guard.

Fungi spotter - it's that time of year again!

Old farm machinery graveyard.

Farmers have been ever so busy.  Fields have been ploughed and re-sown with the next crop.

The council here has a novel way of keeping undesirables out.  Doubt anyone or anything would get through these thick thorns etc.

It's a very pleasant walk with the usual great company.

Half way point.

Picture perfect, version 1

and picture perfect, version 2

See you next week.

7/10/2022 Another lovely cake day . Walking from Whetstone to Blaby app 5 mls.

Something different - a walk around the streets and alleyways of Whetstone and Blaby - heading towards the promised land of cake coffee and tea.

Down through the new builds towards the bridge

Passing the Co-op and walking over into another more established estate.

Interesting gardening hobbies.

Parish church in Whetstone.

A much older estate at the far end of Whetstone.

Rather than cross over the busy B426   ....

.... we went under it.

Blaby Art Gallery?

Another estate and another alley way.

Our destination in sight.

And here we are making ourselves at home.  We'd been invited around to join the early birthday and anniversary celebrations of our hosts.

What a selection home baked goodies!

Going, going, gone!

A big thank you to our hosts. Superb hospitality from our lovely walking friends.

Bye bye to our hosts. The rain clouds were gathering so a quick get- away was called for.

Nuts and more nuts.

Back over the bridge and back to the cars before the rains came.
