After having parked up at the Allerton Research & Educational Trust Car Park our annual pilgrimage to Loddington got underway.
Nice crisp morning.

Around the corner and down the road to the church.
The church gate to St Michael's, Loddington.
There used to be a village here many years ago but it seems only moles live here now.

A very chilly day but dressed for the occasion.

We have the key to the door of the church - circa ????
Walking towards Tilton then turning right towards Launde.
Obviously used more by tractors than anything else.
Slowly does it. One of us was pleased to accept a lift to Launde by a kind passing motorist.

A few more minutes should do it.

The final hill, the daddy of all hills - made it - what an achievement!

Into the church yard and snowdrops galore.
We always look forward to this walk despite the challenging hills to come.
The snowdrops aren't quite out in their full glory, probably because we're a week or so early this year.

The church is always worth visiting, something old, and new to us to be discovered every time.
We signed the visitors book again, then we were on our way.
A teapot to attract your attention as you walk by.
Leaving the village behind.
Group pictures for Christmas photos perhaps?
Getting a bit on the steep side.
We all felt exhausted, maybe we're not as young as we think we are?
After a breather, we set off again.
Just need a bit more fire wood for the fire back home?
Still sinking.
Sheep graze around here with acres and acres to choose from.
Launde Abbey
Lunch will be served soon in the old dairy.
Lovely to sit and relax.
Soup and crusty bread, simple but delicious.
And cake of course.
A walk around the gardens was a bit on the short side due to the temperatures.
