23rd/January/2026 Walking from Narborough Bowls Club to Jennos Coffee Shop Enderby.

Grey dull day, expecting rain anytime soon. Not very exciting so as soon as we are ready, we shall depart.

Everybody well togged up.

Still talking

Seems to be taking ages to get ready this week.

Grey clouds

Nearly all ready

All ready?

Off we go, up through Narborough across the main road and then we'll wind our way up to Jenno's on the Santander Estate.

It always takes a few minutes to cross a dual carriageway with automatic lights in charge.

Into Jenno's and because a lot of people had the same ideas we had to spread out a little.

A good time was had by all.

On our way back across the dual carriageway again. Many walkers and not enough time on the traffic lights.

Missed the rain this time.

Back into the car park.

Let's have better weather next time.

16th Jan 2026 Walk in Bradgate Park

A very cold day so everybody was well and truly wrapped up.

We soon got started and along our way we saw the renovations to Bradgate House.

A small amount of information .  Lady Jane Grey was born at Bradgate House probably in October 1537. Notably in July 1553, at the age of fifteen, the Duke of Northumberland (her husband's father) proclaimed her Queen of England and Ireland, in opposition to Mary Tudor. However Mary had more support, and when the Lord Mayor of London proclaimed Mary queen on 19 July, the Duke of Northumberland lost all support, and he, his son, and Lady Jane Grey, the Nine Days Queen, were beheaded for treason.

Walking the full length of the park we reached Hallgate's carpark near the entrance to Swithland Woods.

With everyone there, we took a few minutes to catch our breath then did our return trip.

Some very dramatic scenes in Bradgate.

At Jades tea rooms with good company and the news of the day.

There is also the opportunity to enjoy a scone cream and jam.

Great day out, we will have to start looking for another walk for next week.
