17-04-2015 Walk from Groby Pool to Bradgate approx 5 miles

The walk today started at Groby Pool and on to Newtown Linford where we had coffee and some very tasty cakes at Jades cafe.

Our walk back to Groby took us through some woods where there was a fantastic display of primroses.  We could see the bluebells were just about to come into flower, definitely worth another visit soon.

Good Friday 3rd April 2015 Walking from Blaby to King's Lock App 5 miles.

Damp horse

The weather wasn't brilliant for our Good Friday walk - unfortunately, the forecast was right - it was wet!

The odd brolly was out, a very unusual feature of our walks, some were sporting a little advertising.

We walked out of Blaby along the disused Great Central Railway track towards Leicester.

We turned left down to the canal, crossing over the bridge and on towards King's Lock Tea Rooms which traditionally opens for the year's business on Good Friday.  As expected, it was very busy.

It was a good job that we all had waterproof  clothing on as all the seats were a bit damp. That didn't stop us enjoying the tea, coffee, cakes and even a bacon buttie.

We are not damp!!

Sharing - you cut and I choose
Bread pudding cake - yum!

A bacon buttie about to disappear

Some flower pot men were spotted trying to shelter under a tree in the cafe garden.

After our break we set off back along the canal towards Blaby.

It's a shame some people find it's necessary to dump a shopping trolley into a canal.

Yes, it was wet day, but we all enjoyed the walk and chat and looking forward to next week.

P.S Willie and Sheila are back from New Zealand - more later.

Who was taking snaps of who?

!0th April Fosse Meadows via Frolesworth and Claybrooke Parva circular walk app 5mls.

A weather forecast as good as this one deserves a good walk.

Nineteen walkers turned out for the short journey to Fosse Meadows where we parked and got ready. We set off over the fields towards Frolesworth.

Over brown fields and green fields.....

.....through farms and.....

.....stable yards.....

.....and out of Frolesworth towards Claybrooke Mill.

From the mill we headed over to the village at Claybrooke Parva to the Pig in Muck pub to refresh.

We spent a while taking in the sunshine and catching up with the chatter but then it was back to the walk.

Leaving the Pig in Muck we set off back to Fosse Meadows along a different route.

Fortunately, the dog didn't fancy these legs - not much meat on them!

Nearly there -  just a couple of miles to go.

Well ok, no problem taking the wrong route - young legs catch up very quickly!

Lovely walk, especially with our younger walkers to keep us on our toes, let there be sunshine again next week.

NB To whet your appetite - cowslips, primroses, forget-me-nots and BLUEBELLS have been spotted at Croft Hill.
