27-03-2015 Fridays walk to Broughton Astley from Cosby. Approx 4.75 Miles

We left Cosby on a bit of a grey day, twelve walkers willing to set themselves against the elements. Leaving Cosby via the allotments we took the higher of the two footpaths to Broughton Astley.

One giant step

We headed down through the fields towards Broughton Astley and noticed the cows were still in their pens - it's probably still too cold for them to be out at night.

Are you sure there's no sugar in that bag ?

Leaving the cows and horses behind, we reached Broughton Astley and the cafe in the centre of the village.

Walking through Broughton Astley

It was much warmer inside and the tea and coffee went down well  .....

........as did cake and buttered tea cakes.

On the way back to Cosby via the bottom fields we remembered walking here the same time last year - the farmer had just manured the fields and it was a bit smelly to say the least!

Approaching the Golf Club back at Cosby, we noticed that the weather was a little better than when we started and someone commented that Spring is on its way.

Spring in our beautiful village:

See you all next week. It'll be Good Friday, so a walk along the Grand Union to King's Lock is on the agenda (the annual opening day for Tony and Julie at the canal-side cafe).
