10..06.22 Walking from Enderby Leisure Centre, circular walk around Narborough and Enderby. app 5 mls.

Enderby Leisure Centre is where we met for a 5 mile walk down through Narborough and back up Whistle Way to Enderby and then back through the village to the car park again.

Leaving the Leisure Centre down a leafy lane towards Narborough village.

Over the main road with the motorway bridge visible on our left we entered the village.

On the way out we passed this lovely old building, a gifts and nick nacks shop, adorned with beautiful roses.

On the outskirts of the village we turned off the main road on to Whistle Way, a disused railway line.

Bit of a climb to start with.

But then we were on to the old quarry railway, straight and flat.

Halfway round we made our way to our coffee and tea stop.

A surprise for all. Two of our group had invited us to view their garden, in particular a wild flower garden on the frontage area.

Absolutely gorgeous!

Then round to the rear garden where we were royally treated to drinks and biscuits.

Big thanks to our hosts.

Leaving the lilies and wild flower garden behind, we set off back to the Leisure Centre.

Finishing the rest of Whistle Way.

A small group photo.

The climb up off Whistle Way where one of us had a 'funny turn' but soon recovered, then back into Enderby to the Leisure Centre.

Great walk looking forward to next week.

3/6/2022 Circular Queen's Jubilee Walk from Wistow via the churches at Wistow and Newton approx 3 mls.

To celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2022 we decided to have a walk dressed for the occasion, wearing traditional colours.

We met at Wistow Park car park avoiding the cafe car park thinking it could be very busy as it was the Jubilee bank holiday weekend with lots of celebrations going on everywhere.

The cows turned up just to see what was going on.

Lots of events are held at Wistow.

Time for a group photo.

Out into the countryside heading for the canal.

Great day for walking and surprisingly quiet considering the bank holiday.

Geese and their family.

   Wistow Church in the background.

Swans and their cygnets.

Getting a good view.

Early summer flowers everywhere.

Another group photo.

Jubilee bunting at Newton Church.

The snowdrop flag, very significant because of the amazing snowdrop display earlier in the year in the church gardens  announcing the approach of spring.

Walk nearly over, everybody happy, weather has been really good and we were all looking forward to a cuppa.

Settling down for our Jubilee mini picnic, out came the extra  red white and blue adornments.

A rendition of happy birthday for the birthday boy.

Well this is the way to do it. Cakes were brought to supplement the odd sandwich. Chocolate biscuits to add to the cakes. What more could you possibly want at a picnic?

Going for it!

Ahh guess what, we seem to have inquisitive interlopers about to descend on the party.

The faces tell it all as a herd of cows approaches.

Getting closer.

Now then this is my seat.

I'll just finish this bun then I'm off!!!

Oh what a picture!

Now this is very good, making friends with the local milk bar.

That's better, now we can watch in comfort.

You just have to laugh, it could only happen to us.

Needless to say everyone (nearly everyone!), enjoyed the extra company but next time we'll bring our own milk.!!!
