June 2nd 2023.Walking from Willoughby Waterleys to Peatling Parva Approx 5 miles return.

Beautiful day walking out of Willoughby Waterleys on our way to Peatling Parva.

Amazing collection of roses at the first cottage we encounter out of the village

Leicestershire countryside at its best in the sunshine.

The hedgerows were absolutely at their best.

Cannot be too far behind.

Into the buttercup fields.

Don't forget to close the gate.

Get my best side please.

Building work up ahead.

More buttercups.

Just a couple of stiles to go and we are into Peatling Parva.

There was a slight breeze which added to the sounds and sight of the corn blowing in the wind.

St Andrew's Church Peatling Parva.

The Rectory behind the shrubs.

Down to the Shires and a cuppa.

A couple of late arrivals.

Smashing to be able to sit outside and enjoy the sun.

A couple of announcements - important birthdays

and a wedding to look forward to.

Three cheers all round.

After all the jolly banter and chat we started to make our way back.

A couple of stiles and we were well on our way.

We've been this way before.

Back into Willoughby.

A special surprise cake all round, wonderful carrot cake  and chocolate brownies - yum!

Well done to the baker, everybody enjoyed it.

It must have been good, there is nowt left.

26/5/2023 Cosby to Croft inc return approx 7 miles.

Walking out of Cosby via the Settlements

Out into the fields with great views all round.

You can see the outline of Leicester from here.

Continuing on our way heading towards a cracking duck pond.

Well it seems that the geese have taken over for the time being.

Duck House in the centre.

This is the way we are going, the farmer has provided us with a good route across his field.

More fields but different colour-ways.

Waiting for everybody to catch up before we cross the busy B4114 Coventry Road.

After crossing the main road we head off towards Croft.

Kingfisher country.

Hold still while I apply a dock leaf, just the thing for stings.

Through the industrial estate.

Under the railway which serves Croft Quarry.

The Heathcote Arms, usually a very warm welcome.

The view from the front of the pub.

On our way, no food today.

Back the way we came.

That busy main road again.

To the tranquillity of the fields.

Just waiting for the stragglers.

Down through the growing corn, no rain but the corn keeps heading towards the sky.

On the last lane before we reach Cosby.

Out through the allotments this time.

Very good walk with really good weather.

See you all next week.
