24.1.25 Walking from Dunton Bassett to Ashby Parva

Sunshine today, storms later - well that what the weather forecast says.

So we'd better get on with our walk.

A walk to try when it is a bit drier perhaps?

😀 Happy faces.

Now't like a brisk walk to chase the cobwebs away.

More happy faces.

Now this is downright disgraceful. If the council find out who is responsible they should publicly shamed and be made to pick it all up then take it to the tip, charge them the amount it cost to trace and supervise the rubbish removal also double the tipping cost.  Fines don't seem to work.

More of the same sort of offence.

Maybe we should have told the driver that there is nowhere to turn down that road, could be tricky.

The Hollybush at Ashby. Waiting in the sun for the doors to open.

Dogs are welcome, owners are too but the owners should read the rules.

Place your orders.

Gravy £2 per shot !!!

Cheers!

Picture from the wall in the loo (not a couple of our walkers)

On the way back and a tractor on ditch maintenance and giving the hedges short back and sides.

Only the hills to do now.

Just waiting for the rest to catch up.

Neigh.

What a great walk, the storm didn't materialise - thank you to the organisers.

17.1.25 B4114 Coventry Road lay to Broughton Astley.

Windy, cold and damp start to our walk - it is January.

Cosy cow pods.

Had a lot of wind just recently - still very blowy.

The WI tree planted a few years ago in Broughton park doing well even though it had been damaged by vandals.

Quiet in the village.

Never too old for Poo sticks.

The White Horse in Broughton, they always make us welcome.

Taken on the way back, I know not where. Peek a boo.

10/1/2025 Walking from Blaby Oakfield Park to Wigston Tesco and back again.

To say it was a little on the chilly side this morning would be a huge understatement.

Meeting in Oakfield Park all keen to start our walk with the leader for the day.

New skateboarding items in Oakfield Park.

Finally, we're all ready and off we go.

Very frosty but really clear - could be great photo opportunities.

Last year's leaves surviving.

UK's favourite winter bird the robin red breast.

Tree of remembrance

Another robin - following us?

Good job everybody is dressed for the occasion.

Heads down, concentrating on not slipping over on the ice.

Lots of frost and ice.

A welcome glimmer of winter sunshine.

Always good to know where there's a plentiful supply of manure.

Just waiting for the group to catch up.

Another very tricky spot to navigate.

And another.

The canal at Crow Mills - it always floods around here.

Think a car didn't quite make the bend.  The final straw for an already decaying tree.

Tesco cafe and enjoying a lovely cuppa.

Time to go

On the way back  The winter sunshine didn't seem to make any impression on the ice.

We had one causality slipping over on the ice but fortunately no permanent injuries.

Great walk thanks, see you next week.
