27/12/2024 Last walk of 2024 A walk from Sapcote to Stoney Cove Diving Centre.

Off we go on the last walk of 2024 and we have a visitor who usually hikes in the Derbyshire Dales so shouldn't find this a challenge.

Weather is as you'd expect for this time of the year, damp, misty and wet.
Human temperature, very warm with a sunny disposition.

Walking out of Sapcote via various jitties here and there.

Came across a maze- it doesn't look too difficult.

Arriving outside the church in Stoney Stanton, regrouping before moving on

Santa's sleigh full of toys.

Famous chancellor lived here, our own Nigel Lawson, Nigella's dad.

Entering Sapcote via the back door so to speak - they seem to have more than their fair share of potholes!

On track to the diving centre in the old quarry in the mist and fog.

Well this is the back of the quarry we think, just got to get to the entrance now.

Can just spot the water through the mesh fence.

Our leader for the day and our visitor.

Still happy.

Possibly something no more spooky than Methane air ways.

We have arrived.

Under the old railway bridge.

Oh we didn't bring our swimmers.

Nemos cafe is under going a transformation.  The front decking overlooking the water where we normally have our coffee is being refurbished so we had to use the back entrance.

Can't see much of the lake.

New seating area outside?

Plenty of room inside.  This will be refurbished too after completion of the outside.

On our way back.

Back onto new pathways leading to old jitties on the way back.

Back at the cars. Great walk, about 6 miles so the knees say.

Looking forward to the first walk of 2025.  Happy and healthy new year everyone.
