20.12.24 Christmas Munch at The Shires. 20 December 2024

Everyone seated with drinks at the ready awaiting lunch and looking resplendent in their Christmas finery.

Now the first challenge, can anyone remember what they ordered?

Smiles all round - of course we can!

Ready for the feasting.

Did someone say cheese?

We have a fantastic collection of Christmas jumpers and hats on show, ears and glasses are popular too.

Aha our photographer requests a photo outside in the sunshine.

Grouping up.

The sun isn't making much of an impact - as it gets chillier, somebody cracks a joke reference the sun forgot to switch the heating on.

Can't be here too long - it's so cold.

We're not quite all in the picture - think the photographer is having a funny turn.

Oh yes, almost got the heads in!

Nearly there.

Worth waiting for.

And another.

Permission to run back to the warmth.

Food starts to arrive and certainly doesn't disappoint.

Lamb, so tender.

The carvery - excellent.

The turkey toasties looked good.

With sweet potato fries

or skinny fries?

Seen a similar one to this before and it looks just as good.

Some of us managed a pudding

After all the food, we settled down to a few words of thanks and remembering our absent friends.
Due to illness, our group walks have been running differently recently with various members taking on the lead role.  Our big thanks to them, and to those who have ensured the continuation of our lovely walks along with everyone who has contributed in any way to the smooth running of our wonderful group.   Thank you for your support and kindness.

We were left speechless by all the kind words and generosity of our fellow walkers. Thank you everybody very, very much we shall enjoy all our gifts.

                IT'S SECRET SANTA TIME

Santa's elf is ready to do the honours.

With a little help from my friend - well, you have to decipher the names - that can be tricky.

Then getting them out of Santa's bag can be awkward.

But the joy when you receive something you never thought you needed can be mind blowing.

Wondering what it is can be a challenge.

Just what you wanted?

What do you think of that?

How lovely!

Wow!  Santa got that one right!

There's more.

To you too!

Come on then, open it up.

Nearly there - it's biscuits in a beautiful tin.

On the 21st December 2024 Cosby Santa Claus and the charity sleigh team had the great honour of presenting a specially crafted gift in memory of one of their special team members (also one of our walkers) to his wife. He had supported the Toc H sleigh for many years, even providing the chassis for the sleigh and materials to help keep Rudolph ready to fly to the delight of the youngest to the oldest in the village.

Thanks to the Cosby Yarn Bomb for crafting this special gift.

Happy Christmas everybody.

And a very healthy and happy New Year.
