25th October misty walk at Billesdon.

Leader's instructions for the walk:

New Greyhound Inn, Market Place Inn, Billesdon LE7 9AJ. Meet at 10.30 a.m

Plenty of on-street parking. No fields nor stiles. Part side road from Billesdon to B6047. Then a very short stretch along B 6047 (please walk on the verge for this fast, busy stretch of road) before calm returns for the remainder of the walkVisit to the Rolleston estate village and lake before reversing the same route back.

ETA Billesdon - 12.30 -12.45

The pub has very recently changed hands. Apart from crisps, no snacks are currently available, but the lovely new landlord, David (made aware by me of some group members' culinary appetites) is buying in a cake (one cake!) for those who might want to buy a slice. First come, first served!

Summary by a walker:

17 Walkers came out on a misty late October day and parked in the middle of Billesdon.

Visibility was poor in the mist which was a pity as we had hoped to get views of the countryside in full autumn colour.   With the recent wet weather we avoided footpaths and limited our walk to short sections along main roads and then well-made farm tracks.  We walked as far as the lake on the Rolleston Estate before reversing our path and walking back to the New Greyhound Inn in Billesdon.

The pub had very recently changed hands and the new Landlord was settling in.  We were welcomed and provided with tea, coffee, beer etc.

Food was not yet available at the pub, however as we had, as usual, warned of our forthcoming visit, cake had been specially ordered in.

We all agreed that even though the weather was far from the best we had all enjoyed getting out for our walk and chat.

Next week a special event when we welcome one of our former walkers who moved away back for a walk and lunch.

Selection of photos (in no particular order)

Great pictures of a very interesting walk, thank you all.
