14/2/2025 Draycote Water.

Draycote Water is a 240-hectare reservoir and country park near the village of Dunchurch. With tarmac path all the way around it is ideal for walking.

We have parked in the village of Thurlaston where we join the walk,  with the intention of stopping at the visitor centre about half way around the circuit.

Second hand book shop set up in the bus shelter - perfect for our book worms.

On the way down to the reservoir Severn Trent are working on the infrastructure giving us a nice walkway - normally it's very muddy.

Joining the path, well wrapped against a very cold wind.

Kestrel looking for lunch?

You don't expect to see one of these on the track.

Catch up time.

Something tasty?

Just keep on walking and the visitor centre is at the end of that wall.

Water coming from somewhere.

The boat yard full of boats - maybe it's too cold to use them?

Mr and Mrs.

A sign for home perhaps?

Big welcome at the visitor centre and we are soon tucking into cake, tea and coffee.

Big enough to share?

Didn't last long.

Leaving the visitor centre on our way back.

Collections of various birds along the foreshore.

And one boat.

Great views across the water.

Another load on its way.

Can't see as many alpacas as usual.

Back to the village and the cars.

Great walk, not even puffing coming up the last hill, must have been all the practice we had last week.
