10/07/2015 Walk around Draycote Water near Rugby 5miles.

The reservoir itself was named after the nearby hamlet of Draycote. There is a flat five mile road surrounding the reservoir which is ideal for a leisurely stroll, run or cycle. Take in the stunning view from the top of Hensborough Hill and then follow footpath down to the country park where you will find plenty of room for outdoor games, picnics and barbeques.  Boasting sailing, fishing and bird watching clubs, the site is a very popular destination for a family day out in Warwickshire.

It was a great day for walking, about 21C, with the sun up above and a slight breeze. We decided to drive to Draycote Water and stretch our legs around the reservoir.

The start

The target

On our way round we came across a fisherman feeding geese   .....

... and a cyclist who did the crossword as he journeyed up and down pages and hills.

Signs on the side of the path asked us to give way to lorries.

Five walkers deep in conversation on the way to the half way point.

Looks a bit lonely out there waiting for a fish to swim by.

At this point we decided to have a couple of minutes before walking on.

All rested, we set off for the sailing club   ...

... and then to the cafe.

As everyone knows we like a piece of cake with our cuppa, so we now have a few action shots for you.

It was a great walk, fantastic weather and smashing cakes.

See you all next week for our away day in the Cotswolds.
