21.12.18 Thorton Water walk app 5 miles, mince pies etc at the end.

A grey day at Thornton Reservoir. The geese came out and met us as we arrived.

A sign to show us the way around.

And we were off on our way with what looked like a wave from one of the geese.

There had been a lot of rain during the night so we were expecting a few puddles here and there.

The level of the reservoir was still very low after the summer drought.

It was very quiet walking around, could be that the weather had put a lot of walkers off.

We did find quite a lot of this.

Taking the high path to dodge some of the puddles.

At the dam we turned around and set off back the way we came to make the walk a bit longer.

Back at the car park we stopped for all sorts of goodies i.e. mince pies, cakes and biscuits, our usual last walk before Christmas treat before going on the golf club for a cuppa.

The geese were happy with their share.

Over coffee, one of our walkers showed off his 'tattoo' - very trendy!

Have a great Christmas everyone.

See you all next week and don't forget the bus passes.

14.12.18 Christmas Munch - short walk before the main event. app 2.5 miles.

We all met here at All Saints Church, Thurlaston before the start of our walk.

Everybody seemed to be wearing something Chrismassy.

There were plenty of hats, antlers, pullovers and scarfs to get us in the Christmas spirit.

It was a bit nippy so gloves and warm scarfs were a must have.

Oops a Rudolf look-a-like (Rudolf the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose.)

Off we went on our short walk. This time last year it was ice and snow, today sunshine.

Watch the birdy.

Now folks, keep your eyes on me and when I shout, all jump in the air.

Look, they all landed at the same time.

Balls are in fashion.

We can see yours too.

Text Santa.

At the half way point we all turned around and set off back towards the Thurlaston Garden Centre where our Christmas Munch awaited.

Coffee and drinks first.

Plenty of chatter going on.

Someone said they saw this card and thought of us - were they suggesting that this might be next summer's preferred choice of walking gear? 😎  Maybe not!

Food was great - no complaints only compliments.

Such variety.

 Loved the snowman.

That was a good joke.

 Plenty to go around.

 The chocolate cake was good.

Some lovely thoughtful cards and gifts were presented. Thank you all.

Think everyone had a great time. Our thanks to Thurlaston Garden Centre for the super food, super service and super atmosphere.
