15//3/24 Visit to Belton House near Grantham.

We have arrived at Belton House, a Natiional Trust property at Grantham. After years of trying, for whatever reason, storms, covid etc we never seem to manage to get here during daffodil time.

It may be damp, but it's not raining, and we are here.

Off we set for a walk around the parkland. We hoped for a sighting of some deer and with a bit of luck some great photo opportunities.

It's a bit of a walk up to the top of the parkland. That is where the best views are, so with the help of a few clouds disappearing perhaps we can get great views of the surrounding area.

Time to catch our breath. The sun is breaking out and the cameras are clicking.

There have been a lot of gales lately and they always take their toll on the trees.

Bellmount Tower is a historic tower, dating to the 18th-century, located near Belton ParkIt is a grade II* listed building. It was commissioned by John Brownlow, 1st Viscount Tyrconnel as one of several buildings on the Belton estate. It was remodelled in c.1780, damaged by fire in 1841, and restored in 1989.

After the historic Belmount Tower we came across a tree that recently came to blows in the gales.

Then on the way back to the car park we came across a herd of deer much to our delight.

Moving towards the car park and lunch, the clouds were gathering again.

We love this shot of a shot!

Close ups of the the deer with their finery.

Lunch at Belton outside in the sunshine,😊 timing could not have been better.

Most of us had brought picnics as we were booked in for dinner later at Melton Mowbray.

Around the formal gardens and setting up for the group photo - caught in the act!

And yes, the photographer made it too!.

The daffodils en masse were a joy to see .

Off for a walk around the lake.

Well, most of the lake.

It started raining so our smiles came out and the rain didn't bother us.

Cracking photos from everybody, thanks.

A frog en route to the lake we think.

The sun reappeared and normal service is resumed.

The old boathouse.

Back into the formal garden and somebody mentioned a cup of coffee.

Leaving the formal gardens for that cup of coffee.

Not to be deterred by the rain.

On the way home we called in to Wetherspoon's at Melton for dinner finishing the day just right.

Pudding maybe?

Lovely day, enjoyed by all.
