12/7/2024 walking from Foston Church.

 Gearing up for today's walk.

Off we go into beautiful surrounding Leicestershire countryside. 

 

Gated road going past the old farm house, now a very nice private property.

Mosaic of grass and a visiting butterfly.  We've noticed how few butterflies there seems to be this year, maybe something to do with the weather?

Just waiting for the others to catch up

Muddy tractor marks on the road - dare I say we could do with a good downpour to clear it up?

And the fly tippers - they're a real problem in the countryside.

Sadly no longer a comfortable resting place.

A quick walk around the village then back to the church.

The walk back shows some naughty clouds but we escaped the rain.

Off to Cherry Lane café for refreshments.

28.06.2024 Walking from Willoughby Waterleys to Pleatling Parva

Setting off from Willoughby Waterleys  we had to  persuade our budding Tarzan cohort that this was not the jungle ,just a leafy South Leicestershire village. Could be something to do with the name !! 

Leaving the village behind.

We were not going that quickly, about 3 miles per hour.

Always plenty of interesting subjects to talk about.

Whoa hold up the cavalry has arrived.

We waited till the horses and riders departed the opposite way.

Sun has come out with vengeance , so coats and pullovers were removed.

More horses.

Horse covers for their eyes keep those fly's out.

First of two stiles on our way into Peatling Parva.

Slowly over the second.

Sheep inoculation centre

Past the church and on to a cuppa.

Cracking village.

The local pub and restaurant made us very welcome.

Happy.

On our way back the way we came.
