11/4/2025 Cosby to Broughton Astley via Cottage Lane.

Thursday, a day for checking out the cow situation. Cows none, oil seed rape yes !!!

Beautiful views yes.  But oil seed rape lurking, not good for those with allergies.

Friday morning 11/4/25. We all met at Cosby village hall car park.

Quite a discussion going on to start with.

Walking through the village on our way to Shuttleworth Lane.

Up the lane and past Cosby Golf Course.

Into the fields on our way to Cottage Lane.

A little pause as some of the group catch up.

Off we go again.

The tunnel under the old bridge for the railway that was axed as part of the Beeching plan.

Looking very spooky in the tunnel.

Really is a nice part of the world to walk on a sunny day.

Out into open fields before we get to Cottage Lane .

On to Cottage Lane leading to Broughton Astley

Cottage Lane, very quiet for a change.

An old Farm Yard full of interesting stuff.

Happy lady.

At the end of Cottage Lane we turned left for Station Road then turned right down to the White Horse.

Arriving at the White Horse we found a lot of outside seating - just the ticket in this lovely weather.

Sitting back with a cuppa and enjoying the chat.

And a pint goes down well too. Cheers!!

This is for us - all served with a cheery smile as usual.

Some of the non walkers of day arrived for a chat.

Off we set to make our way back to Cosby.

This friendly pony decided to trot along with us for a short way.

Lovely walk, see you all next week.

4/4/2025 Walk around the fields of Cosby and a few streets.

It's always good to have a recce before a walk.

Field check above and stile check below.

Meeting at Cosby Village Hall on a very sunny morning.

Photographer trying out his new lens perhaps?

All finished chatting, off we go.

In the centre of  Cosby the cherry blossom looks wonderful..

The church across the brook.

The centre of Cosby, our fish and chip shop, just out of the picture.

Junction of Broughton Road, Croft Road and Countesthorpe Road (showing fish and chip shop).

Up a very interesting jitty with lots of doors.

One of our walkers' husband having a chat. (Home alone - ahh)

Ready for the stile test?  There was an alternative route for anyone who didn't relish the idea of stiles but everybody was game to have a go.

No problem, let's continue on.

Up through the fields.

A field of oil seed rape just coming into flower, could be a problem for some.

Single file down a recently sown field.

Three quarters of the way round two of our party went to make tea and coffee whilst the rest of us continued on the walk.

The main party of walkers continue.

Still nice and warm and sunny.

New build with a difference.

Around at our friends house for cake and drinks to belatedly celebrate a big birthday of her husband and our fellow walker. A toast and few words were said to remember our friend who sadly passed away last year. Thank you to everybody.
As always, cakes were scrumptious and the tea and coffee very welcome.

See you all next week.
