2nd May 2014 Bluebell walk Burroughs Woods near Ratby. Approx 4.5 miles.

Bluebells galore !!!

Well, it was a dry fine day for our annual bluebell walk. This year we were off to Burroughs Woods on the outskirts of Ratby.

Gathering at the car park just off Burroughs Road we decided on a figure of eight walk to try and capture some good sightings of bluebells - we were not disappointed. A map in hand was needed to find the best route around the woods and we set off.

A happy bunch of walkers, fourteen altogether including a lady new to our group, plotted the way through the woods, out on to a bridle road to enter the wood from a different angle.

Re-entering the wood we had a choice of gates to start with and then came upon some discarded relics from the past.

Our ingenuity was rewarded when we came across carpets of bluebells.

    Photographers got down close.

After some some stunning sights of bluebells we continued our walk heading towards the Golf Club and a cuppa.

We eventually reached the golf club and they had fresh scones, just out of the oven, well they soon disappeared.

Nothing left

Very good coffee and tea and excellent scones.

On the way back to the car park we found a different way of tackling a gate.

Nearly came a cropper with a tractor.

All in all a very enjoyable day's walking.

See you all next week 10.30am Friday Cosby Village Hall car park.

P.S. We think Willie and Sheila have gone on holiday, not sure where.
