Another bright clear day, not so warm in the morning but forecasters reckon about 27 degrees in the afternoon. After meeting at Cosby Village car park we drove to Croft and parked adjacent to the Heathcote Arms.
Walking out of Croft we threaded our way through the nature reserve which was overgrown in parts.
Under the Leicester to Birmingham railway line.
Out into the corn fields which look as if they need to be harvested quite soon.
Approaching the local farm we came across a car that had been rolling around some place.
Then across a couple of fields towards Stoney Stanton.
A herd of cattle up ahead chewing the cud. All looked very gentle and too busy to bother with us so we carried on.
Just a few inquisitive glances as we walked past the milk machines.
Then into the village and round to Stoney Cove for a cuppa or a glass of something cool.
It was a very pleasant break sitting watching the divers come up and go down.
Lovely place for a cuppa when the weather is as good as it is now.
The odd plop as divers came up here and there.
Refreshed we set off on our way back via a different route.
The end of?
The footpath took us through a field of maize which was quite high.
We came across a gymkhana before crossing the the B581 and into the fields heading back to Croft.
The sheep are still managing to feed on the parched surfaces of the fields.
Seeking shelter from the afternoon sun.
Over one of the more picturesque foot bridges on the route.
Croft hill in the distance.
The last but one field before the outskirts of Croft.
Great day out - see you all next week.
