1/3/2019 Walking from B4114 lay-by to Broughton Astley and back.

We don't get many grey Fridays but this was one of them. No rain though so it wasn't so bad.

It was a special day because we were road testing a new hip which one of our walkers had acquired just recently. He certainly was enthusiastic about getting started.

After booting up in the lay-by we set off. Talking about 'off', it seemed as if one of the local farmers had just decided to manure his fields quite close by.

Scenery in Leicestershire is, as always, brilliant.

Below we found a War of the Worlds prototype (or something).

Daffodils were out early due to the mini heatwave we had in the early part of the week.

Taking the road to Broughton Astley and a quick diversion around parts of the village because the pub was not open yet.

After the break we had a chat about the forthcoming anniversary dinner and the daffodil walk at Belton House.
Everybody looks so serious, it wasn't really, they were just listening intently.

Just a note -  the new hip achieved its goal ie the White Horse. His wife collected him in the car and he is good to go next week.

Walking back via St Mary's. The church dates from circa 1220.

On Broughton Road a resident living up one of those long driveways obviously was fed up with unwanted callers.

Passing one of the smelly muck chucker outers.

Nearly back, it was an enjoyable walk although it stayed a bit on the grey side.
