Walking around Enderby, 27th January 2022 after another covid break.

 

On our way up through the village of Enderby.

Loads of pubs in Enderby, well it was a quarry village at one time, lots of thirsty workers.

Wandering down Seine Lane heading for the old quarry railway line.

A Green Plaque at the former family home of Alice Young who was a teacher and missionary worker in Palapye, Bechuanaland (now Botswana).

Whistle Way - This branch line was freight only and used to link the now disused Enderby Warren Quarry with the Birmingham to Leicester line.  Makes a great local amenity now.

Everybody seems to be enjoying our first walk of the year catching up with all the news.

17/12/21 Walking around Thornton Reservoir aprox 5 Miles.

 Just arriving for our walk around Thornton Reservoir.

The car park was closed due to surface repairs.

With hats and and Christmas gear, we set off for our jaunt around the reservoir.

Very chilly morning so the plan was to keep moving.
