15/8/2025 Burbage Woods. Very hot weather

Very hot, so a walk around the woods in the shade was without doubt better than walking in the open in 24 degrees of heat.

We have arrived.

Gathering together for the start.

Two of us did a parachute jump for a very deserving cause.  Hearing all about it and glad it wasn't us!

We listened intently as to how the jump unfolded.
Very successful and lots of funds raised for their charity.  Well done both!

Off we go.

Back across a small field.

Through a railway tunnel then out into the woods again.

Half way and a well earned cuppa and a chat at Acorns on the Common.

In memory of one of our walkers.

On our way back.

Some of us got a bit lost!

But we all managed to meet up again back at the cars.

Good walk see you all next week.

8/8/2025 Fosse Meadows To Claybrooke

Really good weather for our walk across the fields from Fosse Meadows to Claybrooke.

Everything looks parched, the result of a distinct lack of water over recent months.

Horse protected from flies.

In the distance, the lake - it's a great place for the locals to go for a walk in the evening.

Wandering over towards Claybrooke Mill.

Groupie.

Something growing better in these warmer than normal temperatures.

Claybrooke Mill.

The next field contains a bull.

Desperate measures to avoid the said bull - climbing gates!!!

Fearless!

Not particularly looking forward to being next.

Then the farmer came along in his tractor and opened up for us.

Up the road heading towards the Mucky Pig (Pig in Muck)

It was a welcome break with a nice cuppa etc.

Off we go, back towards Fosse Meadows.

Kites up in the sky - they're huge.

Corn waiting for the Chelsea chop.

Another groupie

Nearly back to the cars after a very entertaining walk out.

See you all next week.
