We met just outside of All Saints Church, Dunton Bassett. Weather was very unsettled so we were taking no chances and dressed ready for the wet stuff.
Straight into the fields heading for Stemborough Mill on the outskirts of Leire.
A bit of the muddy stuff here and there to pick through.
The mill pond very calm, no wind to speak of.
Down the lane past the mill and on to Leire.
We paused in the centre of the village to re group before turning right at Main Street and following Broughton Road out of the village then under the old railway bridge.
We were looking for a path on the right. If you blink you might miss it, if you're deep in conversation, you will miss it.
Down a gladed path out into open fields.
The sky looking a bit dodgy.
A lot of fire wood was created when this magnificent tree came down to earth.
A moody picture of the same tree.
Handy boardwalk for this stile.
Entering Broughton village with St Mary's Church on the left.
The White Horse on the right.
We headed for the warmth of the pub and met up with some others who hadn't walked.
After our break we took the road out of Broughton Astley towards Dunton Bassett and the cars.
Nowt like a bit of fun - a big muddy patch with a handy gate coming to the rescue - weeeeeeeee!!!
What a great way to finish our walk.
Up Bennett's Hill past the Dunton Bassett Arms and back to All Saints Church.
See you all next week.
