18/3/2022 KIngs Lock walk from Blaby to Aylestone Meadows app 5.5 miles.

We chose this walk today as it was a favourite of a very special lady.

Appropriately, it was a beautiful day as we set off from Blaby Industrial Estate along the old Central Railway path heading towards Leicester.

Over the Grand Union Canal.

Down into the Nature Reserve.

Under the by pass.

Good paint job.

Met up with Po collecting for red nose day.

Subscriptions required for a good cause.

Kings Lock Cafe -  a cracking BACON BUTTIE (we will be back)

A pause for a group photo.

The sunny day definitely brings the cameras out.

For Sale !!!!
Clearly has damp problems.

The graffiti artists have been busy.

Did you see the size of that fish?

Enjoying the canal views.

Reed beds make good homes for the duck population.

Watch your head feature.

This heron was not for moving.

Back where we started.

A birthday surprise and delicious homemade cakes baked by the birthday girl herself.

Something to please everyone, thank you.

See you all next week.

Walking from the B4114 layby to Broughton Astley.

Gathering at the layby on the B4114. Very blustery and unfortunately, threatening rain in the air but the chocolates got us off to a good start.

All suitably dressed and cameras consigned to pockets, we were on our way.

By the time we got to Broughton Astley, the rain had stopped.  We decided to surprise one of our regulars who is just recovering from a new knee operation. He looked really well and on the way to a full recovery, so hopefully he'll be back walking with us soon.

Good opportunity for a group photo or two.

After our goodbyes, we strolled over  to the White Horse for a cuppa.

Coffee is served.

On our way back to the cars.

Mad March hares have been seen here on a previous occasion, but unfortunately, not today.

Great to get out and about for a bit of fresh air.

Daffodils are always a cheery sight.

See you next week

4/3/2022 A walk in Bradgate Park approx 3.5 miles.

A wet day, so a walk in beautiful Bradgate Park was just what was needed.

Not a lot of people about but plenty of deer.

It was damp underfoot but we avoided the mud by staying on the track.

Grey clouds kept moving towards us.

Quite a lot of water in the stream running through the park.

A casualty of the heavy winds.

Logging camp. We wondered where all the timber went to.

The visitor centre was serving coffee, tea etc while the cafes were being renovated.

A view of Cropston Reservoir.

We turned around at Hallgates car park and set off back.

Well wrapped up and keeping the damp out.

A last look at the deer.

A very enjoyable walk, doubt if anyone noticed the weather.
