1/12/23 Walking from Narborough to Seine Lane, .Enderby

Very cold and damp day, but no rain.  Parking up at the bowling club, thanks to one of our walkers for organising.

Just about booted up and ready to go.

 Got to make sure that the gate is shut.

Walking out of Narborough on our way to the entrance to Whistle Way, the disused railway line.

The entrance to the walk along the old quarry railway from Enderby to Narborough, an absolute boon for the locals around Enderby and Narborough.

Very picturesque at any time of the year. 

At the end of Whistle Way we climbed up a few steps to get on to Seine Lane heading towards the garden centre.

Just a short walk to the entrance of Seine Lane garden centre.

The Old Duck House, our first visit. Looks very promising, cakes galore.

Sunshine so we were able to sit outside, cold but quite sheltered.

Some of our regulars drop in to join us for a chat.

We'll come here again, we were made very welcome.

Rounding up the troups for the walk back to the cars.

Down the steps to Whistle Way.

Back into Narborough. The walk was about six miles, good for our step count.

24th November 2023 Mowsley to Gumley and back 6 miles.

Heading out of the village along Laughton Lane, we soon realised something was not quite the same as usual.

Two rather large trees had just been felled making a significant change to the landscape.  

Laughton Lane, near the cricket pitch and looking its best, the Autumn colours are stunning.

The sun is shining,  temperatures aren't soaring but it's enough to make everyone smile.

Through the cattle grid and on to Gumley. The views from this lane are superb taking in lots of Leicestershire.

The enclosed garden area at the rear of The Bell is being refurbished so we sat outside at the front for coffee - it was so cold.!!

It was so cold that the general consensus of opinion was let's get started walking back.

The sun came out again and that always makes it feel better.

Hello there!.

Almost back in Mowsley. 

There is a significant birthday very soon so it's celebration cake time.  Apparently one of the surprises for the birthday girl is tea for two at the the Ritz. that's next week, sounds wonderful.

So we all gathered round with a rendition of happy birthday and tucked in to the delicious cakes provided.

Some cake for a couple of walkers who couldn't make it today, always appreciated.

Fridays are even better with cake, thank you.
