Friday 2nd of January Walking from Cosby to Narbourgh via Littlethorpe and Whetstone Disused Railway.App 6 miles.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

For the first walk of 2015 it was a fine sunny day. We met at the village hall car park as usual, booted up and set off across the park towards Littlethorpe.

Turning right at the funeral parlour we headed down Warwick Road towards Whetstone.

At the the old Great Central railway line we climbed up on to the railway track in the direction of Whetstone Tip.

We walked through part of the housing estate then turned left and right back up onto the railway track.  At the end of the track we took the steps down to the Blaby -  Enderby road turning left towards Enderby, passing the tip on our right.

200 yards past the tip, we were quite pleased we could leave the busy road by taking a footpath on the left over the wet fields heading towards Narborough.

In the middle of the field was an old pack horse bridge and one of our ever so vigilant photo snappers snapped the following sequence of photos.

What do you reckon ?

Maybe the Beetles come to mind?

On his way back to the group

Back on terra firma we headed towards Narborough, walking underneath the motorway bridge and on into the village.

Our halfway stop was to be at the Narborough Arms for drinks etc. Unfortunately, the staff at the pub were having problems with the hot water in the coffee machine so we had to split up, cold drinks at the pub, hot drinks (and cake!) across the road at the bakery.

All refreshed, we joined up again and set off back towards Littlethorpe.

Over the railway line, on through Littlethorpe and back towards Cosby.

Another good day out.

Willie and Sheila news

Willie and Sheila went on holiday to France over the festive period and photographs have arrived of their adventures.

Here they are en route with Willie obviously in charge of navigation.

Two 'French' guys offering some of the local fare, crepes.

Willie had promised Sheila a trip to Paris but ran out of time, still they found the next best thing.

They celebrated bringing in the new year in the traditional way, with a glass of the sparkling stuff.  Shelia looks a little tired.

Cheers!
