Friday 9th January Bouskell Park Blaby to Tesco at South Wigston. App 4.5 miles

Parking up at Bouskell Park, Blaby, fourteen walkers, in a very cheerful mood, got ready for a shortish walk along terra ferma to Wigston.

Bouskell Park is an attractive area of parkland set on the remains of a medieval village. It's an old Victorian parkland with an ice house, pond, grassland and woodland.

Nothing like a good chat putting the world to rights as you walk along.

We headed out of the park along Sycamore Street turning right into Church Street then on to Mill Lane.  At the end of Mill Lane we came upon a van which looked as if it had been sliding on black ice.

Turning left at the end of Mill Lane we passed by the car park at Crow Mills and went over the canal bridge, crossing the road towards the park.

Car Park useful for walking by the canal.
Useful car park for walks by the canal.
Walking through the park we noticed lots of amenities for children of all ages and it was certainly family friendly.

At the end of the park we crossed over the busy South Wigston - Glen Parva Road and headed for Tesco's cafe where we had really nice tea and coffee at reasonable prices, not to mention the scones, cakes, etc that tempted some of us.  Great value we thought.

This is not an advert - just pointing thirsty walkers in the right direction.

After a good cuppa we set off, back the way we came.

At the traffic lights we all got split up.(It's the talkers you know.)

Regrouped and back into the country lanes we noticed that the leader (man), deep in conversation with someone else (lady), no names, had turned up a track into a field and would have kept going until a sharp eyed walker asked, no shouted, "are we going back a different way." Head down the leader turned back saying "oops" much to the amusement of everyone present.

Great walk, just the right length for this time of the year.

Hope to see you all next week.
