15th Sept 2017 Walking from lay-by on the B4114 towards Broughton Astley.

After meeting at Cosby we drove to the designated lay-by on the B4114, the start of our walk.

Every body ready and we set off. It wasn't a brilliant morning but after all the rain it was better than most we had experienced over the last few days.

Cows in the distance - just where they should be.

On the right, a field of corn, lots of cobs about ready for eating.

We came across some converted farm buildings - new houses and apartments all very tastefully designed but they were quite a long way from any amenities and could possibly feel isolating for anyone without their own transport.

At the end of the lane we waited until everyone had regrouped then together we took the left turn for Broughton Astley.

We had to walk a short stretch of the busy road before we reached the pavement.

Photograph something out of the box - so a photo was taken of a box.  Hmm.

The park at Broughton  Astley -  lots of space and loads of play equipment - great for all ages.

Funny place for a telephone box.

At this point we decided to make a detour to one of our walkers at home who was not feeling too well. A Christmas carol and a collection was suggested - this was bound to bring a smile.

The Christmas carol,

 the collection,

and cracking smiles from our poorly walker and the collector .

Leaving a cheered up walker we set off for the pub and a cup of coffee/tea.

After our break we set off on the way back just as the clouds started to turn a little bit more on the grey side.

Back up the lane leading past a shed full of calves.

Look carefully and you'll see a furry mouse right in the centre of the picture.

Good looking young fellow.

Wonder who they were talking about?

Not far now to the end of the walk, back past that field of corn.

A view of Croft Hill in the distance.

Statuesque dead tree.

Nearly there.

A good walk, a bit of fun and terrific company.

Looking forward to next week and our walk in the Derbyshire Dales.
