27.6.25 from Groby Pool in a circular direction via Jades. Newtown Linford.

Friday 27th June.  We were in the middle of a heatwave and decided to take a walk we had done before from Groby Pool to Jades Tearoom in Newtown Linford.  We decided to reverse our normal route to complete the longer half before coffee in the cooler morning and make use of the greater shade for the afternoon return journey.

We were a group of 15 and we walked through parched fields until getting to Sheet Hedges Wood where we were able to walk through the trees.  It was here we saw interesting fungus on a rotting tree.

Today the butterflies were white, whereas earlier in the week they had been brown.

From the Wood we walked down to Newtown Linford and Jades Tearoom.

On our way back towards Groby Pool we saw the Queen Jane Grey Pillarbox topper commemorating a famous resident of Bradgate Park.

Groby Pool was well populated with Swans, Ducks and Geese.
