17th July 2026. George and Grahams walk from Groby to Ratby.

From Graham

As you probably know our Leader and the Assistant Leader have deserted us and gone North to York for a few days.

I will be leading tomorrows walk – the usual instructions apply, Full Emergency Rations etc.
It is due to be cooler, at least a little bit,  George and I did the walk today and thought we should be able to make it as long as the current weather forecast holds.
The Walk will start at 10.00 from Groby Pool Car Park to make use of the cooler morning weather.  We then take the longer half of the Walk to Newtown Linford (about 2.2 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes).  We have coffee and cake at Jades.
From Jades to the Groby Pool Car Park is about 1.8 miles.  This part is mainly shaded, under trees.  This during the hotter part of the Day.
We leave the Car Park at 10am and should get to Jades about 11:15 for those who want to join us for Coffee.
One half stile which can be stepped over (see photo), one field we walk along the edge of which may have cows on the far side.  Though no physical barrier the path is separate from the field.
Proper walking footwear recommended, ground is very dry and not very even.

George taking on the stile.  Me enjoying a scone with cream and Jam.  Fans which didn’t give us much breeze and the Map.
Ignore the arrows on the Map, we will be doing the walk backwards going towards the Rifle Range first.
