16/10/2026 Blaby to Everards Meadows. short walk due to weather forecast.

Walking from Blaby to Everards Meadows we started off with only 5 walkers. Seems everybody has gone on holiday.

Boats moored up in the centre because of a lack of water in the canals also vandalism when lock gates have been deliberately opened and the water left to flow out.

 

On our way along the old Great Central railway.

Meeting one of our fellow walkers who joined us on the walk.

The water levels were well down.

Dried up canal beds needing a lot of rain.

All seated at the beer hall at Everards Meadows and the sun got out. Three more walking members joined us then we were nine persons in total.

The wife of one of our walkers unexpectantly joined us too - sorry not in the picture.

On our way back and the sun is still shining - pleased to say it looks like the weather men got it completely wrong.

Another good day, not so far for a walk but good for socialising and meeting friends.
