27 February 2015 Mowsley to Gumley Approx 6 miles.

It was a beautiful morning and we had the main ingredient for a great walk, the sunshine. We changed our planned destination choosing to go to Mowsley and walk to Gumley as we know there are fabulous views of Leicestershire being so high up on the hills, especially on a clear sunny day.

Ten walkers (including a guest from Dorset) set off from Mowsley along the lane to Laughton.

We noticed a badger sett as we were leaving the village.

On entering Laughton we stopped to check the time on a wall mounted sundial.

Laughton has a good display of snowdrops worthy of the odd snap or two.

Leaving  Laughton we came across some ewes feeding their newly born lambs.

As we walked along, the views of Saddington reservoir were quite breathtaking on such a clear day.

We noticed the fields are still very wet and boggy.
.

Turning right into Gumley we headed towards one of our favourite coffee/tea breaks, The Bell.

Which way?
What shall I have?

On the way back we checked out the local building project, it's grown, shame about the infilled windows don't you think?

Some locals.

Walking back into Mowsley

A welcome seat back at Mowsley to take the boots off (the de fib
just happened to be in the picture!)

Another great walk -  see you all next week.
