Bit of a dull day when we all arrived at Groby Pool car park.
Quite a large car park and not a lot of cars.
It's almost blackberry time so the foragers amongst us will be taking notes of the best patches to attack in about 2 weeks.
At the pool side there were lots of disappointed geese, ducks and swans because we didn't have a sandwich between us (or if somebody had, they were keeping it quiet).
Looks like some birds lost their feathers. Consensus of opinion was that the geese were shedding feathers.
I know we've said it before but the British countryside really does take a lot of beating for diversity and beauty around every corner.
Approaching a road that we had to cross we found a chap with a crane mounted on a lorry unloading some electrical switch gear in a cabinet.
We negotiated our way around the obstacle and continued on our way.
Another two fields and we will be in Newtown Lindford on the outskirts of Bradgate Park.
We didn't want to be kidnapped so decided to try the cake.
Who could resist?
The portions are large so seconds might be a little ambitious.
.
Please enjoy the following cake appreciation pictures.
Well, all good things come to an end. We can always come back another day.
Leaving Newtown Linford we set off up through the village and back into the fields. By this time the sky was looking a bit angry.
What?
Out of the corn into the woods.
Back on to pasture land.
Over a stile
Eventually back on to the lane leading back to the car park.
A great walk thank you, no rain and everybody enjoyed it. Looking forward to next week.
