16th June Walk 2017 from Willoughby Waterleys. to Peatling Parva.

Walk 16 June.  We met at Cosby Village Hall car park and went to Willoughby Waterleys for the start of our walk.  The Steam Fair at Ashby Magna was that weekend and we joined a flock of Vintage Tractors going along the road.
The walk was mainly on firm ground as we walked through Willoughby and took the road to Peating. We moved onto field paths for the last half mile towards Peatling Church.

The church was open when we arrived and that gave us an opportunity to have a look around and to take some photographs.

Then on to The Shires for coffee.

After our break we took the field paths back.

Very soon, half way across a field we found ourselves among a herd of cows and a bull.

Walking on, looking unconcerned, we safely reached the other side with the bull totally ignoring us, in favour of his harem around him.

The stiles were surrounded by lush growth, quite a lot of it nettles, however, by judicious use of walking poles we were able to clear a reasonable way through.

Back to Willoughby – quite a short walk this week.
