The week so far has been day after day of rain, torrential at times, so our walk today had to be on a tarmac path rather than fields and up to our knees in mud.

Most of us met at Cosby then headed up to Dunton Bassett parking up near to the church where we met up with the rest of our group.

Walking out of the village a thatcher was busy renewing a roof.

We continued out of Dunton into the lane leading to Ashby Parva

Normally it's very quiet traffic wise but looks like quite a few van drivers were using it as a short cut today.

Then, as usual this week, the rain arrived. Hoods were hoisted - fortunately, it only lasted for about 10 minutes.

View over the fields with clouds rolling towards us looking very menacing.

The Holly Bush in Ashby doesn't open till 12.00 midday so we kept ourselves busy checking out the gardens in the village.

The notice actually says, please do not use birds nesting. Very strange.

While waiting for the doors to open somebody spotted a spider. Aghh!

As soon as we got in and ordered our drinks, teas and coffees etc, the conversation ebbed backwards and forwards about the latest election results.

Trousers got wet in the rain !!!

Out of the Holly Bush and on the way back to the cars.

The sun came out - what a difference a little bit of warmth makes.

This will take you back a few years, black and white photo of a red telephone box.

Coats came off very quickly, and the walk back was a very pleasant one.

Still the odd van passing through on the lane.

The village hall at Dunton Bassett with fluffy white clouds behind.

Very pleasant walk considering the conditions.  Hopefully, next week we'll be back in the open fields.
