30/06/17 Blaby to King's Lock.app 5 mls.

Parking up at the industrial estate on the Blaby by pass.

Different way around today. Canal walk first then returning via the great Central Railway path.

Local artists feature on the canal bridges.

Passing barges going places but in no hurry.

Meadowsweet - it must be summer.

Apart from all the chatter,  it was mostly a quiet day by the canal.

The next bridge would be close to our destination, King's Lock.

Arriving at King's Lock just in time to assist with manning the locks as a couple of barges made their way through.

Time for drinks and a catch up on the walk so far.

A cheeky young Robin took great interest in what was going on.

After the break we continued down the canal before crossing over to Aylestone to pick up the Great Central Railway path back to Blaby.

The canal path had given way and was in need of repair.

Tarmac path straight back to Blaby.

The busy Leicester ring road above us.

We think the signs are for bikers and horses not walkers.

It seemed a very different walk by taking the opposite route today. Enjoyed by all and definitely looking forward to the next one.

P.S. Willie, Sheila and Naire have just returned from Gran Canaria. They have been to a wedding and brought some photos back. Willie said the weather was fantastic and thanked everybody for their hospitality. They love cake so if anybody else is having a wedding soon they'd love to join in the celebrations.

The cute flower girl and her helper.

The grooms.
