2nd February 2018 Walking from Mowsley to Gumley. app 5.5 mls.

It was a fine, crisp, sunny morning when we arrived at Mowsley.

Parking outside the village hall we set off towards Laughton.

A quick check on the sign post in Laughton told us we were going in the right direction.

A happy chappy.

Checking out the snowdrops in the winter sunshine at Laughton - a very welcome sign of spring.

A quick check on the time.

Moody sky and muddy fields.

A nice bright welcome walking into Gumley.

Very ingenious - much more interesting than the usual garden gnome.

Into the pub.

Someone phoned ahead with advance notice of our party of twenty and the landlady retrieved the garden furniture which had been mothballed for winter - much appreciated by us as the lovely roaring fire in the pub can be a bit of a muchness when we're all wearing our icy weather gear.

Smashing coffee (and chocolates, thank you).

The Bell at Gumley always make you welcome.

All ready for the walk back.

Tiles ready for a re-roof job or more modern art formations?

The bell tower.

Back into Laughton from the other direction.

And another chance to see the snowdrops.

Spring lambs, perhaps a little early.

Into Mowsley at the end of our walk.

Game waiting for the restaurant to open in Mowsley.

The end of our walk and a comfy seat to sit on while your change your boots.
