Walking from Cosby to Broughton Astley. 2/08/24

Clear blue skies as we get ready for our walk.

Coming out of Cosby and into the countryside.

A look back at the countryside on the outskirts of Cosby. We are quite aware that over the years many planning applications have been made for more housing. This time it could well get passed, thus destroying our beautiful views and our relatively calm and tranquil village.

Somebody who likes his stand out shirts, cannot get lost in that one!

Here they come, just the other side of the field of barley.

The intrepid front walkers stamping down any stinging nettle, brave souls.

It's that shirt again.

Regrouping before moving on.

Making our way across this next field out on to the single track road to avoid a field of cows.

More views of Leicestershire.

Out on to the road.

Puddles here from last night's rain.

Making our way into Broughton Astley.

Walking past Broughton Astley allotments.

Cows ready to be milked.

Our break coincides with a very special anniversary - 50 years of wedded bliss.

Fantastic lunch for us all, laid on by mine hosts.

Thank you for a great spread and a perfect day to match.

Time for a word or two of congratulations.

Wow, looks like a golden bell.

Plus an envelope with a card signed by all your walking friends together with a token for a nice meal at a favourite venue.

Go on give us a speech.

Okay then I'll do it.

A very warm thank you to everybody for helping us to celebrate.

It's been a great day thanks to all.

What a good party that was!  Better start the walk home.

Out into the fields, a different route home.

Past the horses who were mostly too busy to care about us.

A freshly sown field - winter wheat?

Well and truly mature this one.

Just waiting for one or two to emerge from the corn field.

It's that shirt -  he's made it home.

Great day out with great folks.
