15th January 2016 Mowsley to Gumley and back again Aprox 6.4 miles.

There was a clear blue sky, a bit on the nippy side, what a day for walking.

Twenty two walkers agreed on a trip to Mowsley, park there and walk to Gumley.

We left  Mowsley passing the Staff of Life restaurant....

... and out into the Leicestershire countryside.

Jack frost had been doodling.

Snowdrops were poking their heads out.

Willie and Sheila had a walk amongst  the snowdrops.

We walked up the gated road to Laughton.

Always looking for a different picture.

Great views of the Leicestershire countryside from up here - this must be one of our favourite walks.

Somebody had 'parked up' on a soft patch and sank to the axles but help was on its way so we carried on.

After passing a traffic jam in the countryside, we turned right into Gumley.

Down the road towards the Bell Inn we came across a 'skeleton'.

But the beer at the Bell is good!

The Bell was very full which was great but we did find ourselves here, there and everywhere, some of us in the garden.  It has to be said that the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome - thank you all.

Having enjoyed our break, we togged up again for the walk back.

That's the way home according to the sign post.

Approaching the pretty village of Laughton.

The post box is from Queen Victoria's reign.

We were overtaken by some of the locals on the way back.

Yet another great day, lots of sunshine, good conversational topics and great company. Looking forward to next week.
