Autumn has arrived - that's official. Check out the clothing, check out the trees and check out some of the paths.
Thornton Reservoir for our walk today. Chosen because the weather forecast was not particularly good. It's a good walk for trees and water, not too far around and a good option to shorten the walk if the heavens decide to open up.
Great to see one of our walkers returning and looking very well indeed.
Off we go, the trees showing an autumnal glow here and there.
It wasn't as cold as we had thought and it wasn't long before zips were going down to let a bit of air to circulate.
A couple of ponies helping to keep the front lawn mowed.
Some of the pathways showing the results of the recent heavy rain.
Looks like a tree has decided to join our group?
Chopped up and waiting for a new location. Could they possibly be carved into seating, this would be a good spot being just about half way around the reservoir.
We don't often come across vehicles on this route.
Good view of Thornton village in the distance.
On the way back the same way we came. It always looks different the other way.
Thornton monster making its way back to the reservoir?
Another path leading further into the forest. Not today because it's sure to be a wellie job further in there.
Very noisy passing geese caught on camera by those who had them at the ready.
Sinking swan?
Great views every time you stop to look.
An advantage point for the bird in charge.
We all arrived back at the Forest Hills Golf Club for coffee and tea.
Then someone mentioned they recently had a special birthday, and, in true walkers style brought along some cakes to celebrate. Everyone promptly burst into song: happy birthday to you, happy |birthday to you, etc etc.
Hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray!
Very good walk even better with the birthday girl enjoying it as well.
See you all next week.
