We set off on our walk around the grounds and parkland of Calke Abbey. The weather was set to be changeable so we went prepared. The clouds were a mixture white, grey, dark grey and black and then the sun would come out to surprise us.
Obviously this walk took take a little longer as the scenic views were quite amazing so we have photos galore to share.
Cowslips and Calke Abbey.
An aeroplane shooting across a dramatic sky.
Calke Abbey church on the horizon.
Patches of cowslips here and there.
Well there is something down here.
Our first view of bluebells.
Immersed in bluebells - the aroma was intoxicating.
Very happy group of walkers.
Kindling for wood burners?
Looking for a good photographic shot.
Dandelions !!! And fluffy white things. Interesting.
Who can resist a feeding station.
Time for a cuppa so we head back to the cars for our picnic.
The sun comes out and very nice time is had by all.
Ice cream - must be the first of the season. I'm sure they'll be many more to come in the following weeks.
Lunch over and starting our second walk of the day.
A deer cooling down in the lake.
Into another bluebell wood. Please enjoy the photos
We all enjoyed the walk through the woods and a veritable host of bluebells.
Just resting its arms, or so it looks.
Electrifying, wooden lighting sculptures.
Off up to the kitchen garden at Calke.
Been a long day, better put our feet up.
A door opens out to yet another beautiful manicured garden.
Fungi perhaps, could be a mushroom coloured moth.
Wrong way, cars are the other side of the abbey.
Sky looks angry, think we better make our way home.
Great day out, see you all next week.
