17/10/25 Botanical Gardens and the Leisure Centre.

Just an amble or two this morning to take in a little bit of nostalgia.   Remember when you brought the kids here for the day out to let off   steam?

Our first call was the University of Leicester Harold Martin Botanic Gardens with lots of interesting plants and gardens

The the trees are turning at the moment - from greens to browns, reds and yellows as autumn kicks in for 2025.

Carpets of yellow leaves cascading from the trees.

A reminder that Christmas and winter are not far away.

Everybody enjoying the walk.

These pillars are not wide enough so let's move them a bit.

Good selection of carp in the fish pond.

Trying to get that really good shot.

Not a whale - it's a bell.

Possibly the ugliest carp with a dead pan face.

Autumn colours galore.

Somebody let the white liner man in on his day off. Maybe practicing for the next set of round-abouts?

School's out on a nature ramble.

So where to next ?

Pans People !!!

A weather vane and wind direction indicator.

Fungi close up.

And here it is - honey fungi.

An imposing building from the 19th century.

The gardens surround several Edwardian era houses

More interesting parts of the gardens.

A spiral from the natural world.

After our walk around the Botanical Gardens we went for coffee and tea at Brocks Hill Country Park which was only ten minutes drive away.

Too many carrots?

After a nice leisurely break we went for an amble around Brocks Hill Woods.

Lack of time left on parking meters caused a break away group to hot foot it back to the car park.

Needless to say we'll return to finish the walk some time.

See you all next week.
