15.04.2016 Walking from Bouskell Park, Blaby to Tesco Wigston and back app 4.75 mls.

Well, the weather forecast wasn't good, heavy cloud and rain, so we opted for a local walk to Wigston.

Booted up and waterproofs on, we set off.

The overcast sky and constant drizzle didn't dampen our spirits.

The daffodils are still showing the last of their colour here and there.

Multi sign-age makes interesting reading.

The tree with the hump has grown a couple of inches since the last time we were down this way.

Entering Wigston we were quite relieved to see the local boat
rescue was still there.

Well, it does flood a lot around this area!

Nice to see that the local art boards were being cleaned up ready for the next artists that happen along.

Crossing the road to enter the park path that leads to Tesco.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks as well as cake and scones - just what the doctor ordered on a damp day.  Every little helps!

Everyone enjoyed their break.

Back on track to Blaby.

Considering the weather, it was a good walk - great to get out in the fresh air. See you all next Friday.

Don't forget earlier start next Friday -  09.30am at Cosby Village Hall car park.

8th April 2016 Cosby via Narborough to Enderby and back app 6mls.

It wasn't a bad a morning, weatherwise, as we gathered for a walk from Cosby Village hall car park to Enderby.

 Booting up.

Spring is in the air and the blossom is blooming.

Coming into Littlethorpe.

Down towards The Plough.

Over the railway crossing.

Passing the Narborough Arms.

Up  past the Council Offices

The big discussion on which way to go - up to the Pastures or to the centre of Enderby for coffee.

The Pastures and the Copt Oak wins.

Another discussion - this time on who won 'the plank' competition at the local gym and it was revealed that our most mature (and fittest?) member won.  Anyone who has had a go at 'the plank' will know just how difficult it is.

A demonstration of 'the plank' - what a star!

On the way to catch up with the rest of the group.

Daffodils, although now past their best, still look the part.

At The Copt Oak for a well earned cuppa served with biscuits.

Well, that was lovely but time's up!.

It was decided to go down Whistle Way making the walk more of a circular one.

Oops, something not quite right with that hat.

After reaching the end of Whistle Way we walked through Narborough and Littlethorpe and it started to rain a little.

So, just a little damp, we made our way back into Cosby.

Still smiling.

Yet again a great walk, good company and plenty of tales to tell.

A date for your diary 22.04.2016

1/4/2016 Walking from Willoughby Waterleys to Peatling Magna.

There were ten of us who met in the car park in Cosby, including the grandson of one of our walkers, the most appropriately dressed in that he had on wellingtons.

We set off to Willoughby Waterleys where we met up with fellow walkers en route and set off down the bridle path. On the bridle path we passed a burned out Peugeot.

Out into the country.

Much better with wellies on.

Without a doubt the lambing season is upon us.

The chase is on
 and on.

success!

We must have set a pretty good pace as we made it to the pub at 11:50 and sat in the garden until opening time.  The weather was good, no rain but the wind was cool and the sky cloudy which reduced the heat from the sun.

After refreshments a trip around the local artefacts.

Through the local cemetery looking for local people.

It was cross country on the way back, through Peatling Parva churchyard and then through fields of sheep and lambs.  There were a couple of recently harrowed fields, however, these were reasonably dry so didn't cause any problems.  What there were, were stiles, lots of them – in total 21.   Some were situated in fair sized puddles.

Nearly home.

The wellies were definitely the right choice.

Thanks for all the photos, some are very entertaining. Just use your imagination, sure you'll have some choice comments on this one.

 Hang on!

With care we got through the hazards and made it back to Willoughby Waterleys.

Despite the stiles we all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to the next walk.
