Friday 29th November 2013. Fosse Meadows via Claybrooke Magna approx 5mls.

Fourteen of us travelled to Fosse Meadows after meeting at Cosby. It was a bit grey, but dry. The weather forecast was for rain in the afternoon, so some set off with waterproofs and some without.

Setting the mileometer
Out of Fosse Meadows we turned right and walked on the old Roman road for about two miles to Highcross. These cross roads mark where Fosse Road and Watling Street cross.

After Highcross we then moved into the fields across a style into a field marked 'beware of the bull' but luckily for us there was no sign of him!

It started to rain and what was firm going became soft.

This the right way???
Grass for lamb chops

Steady as it goes

As it was a bit wet we quite pleased to arrive at the Pig In Muck in Claybrooke where we received a very warm welcome.  Our muddy feet were not a problem for the landlady, or so we were told.
The walkers that had not put on waterproofs at the beginning now wished they had!

Continuing our walk back to Fosse Meadows by a different route it became wetter and muddier.

We all had a lovely morning and looking forward to next week.
