17th June 2016 Dunton Bassett to Ashby Parva app 5 mls.

This week’s walk started in Dunton Bassett, parking near the church. There were seven of us walking, holidays and babysitting duties occupied many of our usual walkers. It was overcast and though threatening rain it was dry as we set off. Quite warm and humid which resulted in the fashionable look being waterproofs tied round the waist.

Could be rows of corn.

The overgrown sections.

 Definitely HIGH.

Ashby Parva on the way to the Hollybush.

The lunchtime break was at the Holly Bush Ashby Parva and the 3½ mile walk to Ashby Parva was along footpaths. The recent rain and warm weather meant that the grass, nettles and cow parsley were high, at some points almost above the heads of the shorter walkers. We passed a field of Christmas Trees and several fields of sweet corn and flower meadows.

Reaching The Holly Bush we sat outside with our drinks looking at the surrounding black clouds wondering if our waterproofs would be needed on the walk back to Dunton Bassett.

The walk back was along Dunton Lane, two miles along the tarmac surface with just a couple of vehicles passing our group. The rain did hold off until the walk ended.
