7th March 2014 Walk from Fosse Meadows to Claybrooke Magna Approx 5.5 miles

It was not a sunny day but it was dry.  Twenty walkers gathered at Cosby Village Hall car park ready for the off. We decided not to go too far this morning and took the short car journey to Fosse Meadows.

It's been raining for such a long time that the going underfoot in the fields is not good for walking so by keeping to a bridle path for the majority of the walk we had hoped to make the going a bit easier rather than sliding and slipping in the fields.

As you can see from the following pictures this was not the case.

Here we are getting ready, boots or wellies just in case of deep water.

Walking up the old Fosse Way was in some places quite a challenge.

Mud, mud, glorious mud, there's nothing quite like it for cooling the ??????

Turning right at Bumblebee Lane, Highcross, we headed down into Claybrooke Magna to the Pig in Muck pub. We sat outside enjoying our break as the weather was definitely getting better.

I like ice with mine

Refreshed, we headed back the way we came rather than taking the circular route over the fields. Without doubt we are all looking forward to some sunshine to dry out those fields.  Roll on next week.
